Electricity
Energy mix of imports from individual countries
Energy mix of electricity imported from each country
It is not possible to say which type of energy has been used to produce electricity once the electricity has been fed into the grid. However, it is possible to roughly calculate the energy mix of the electricity imported by Germany using data on generation and foreign trade.
The available power plant data can be used to say how much electricity is being produced from which energy source at any one time. Similar data are available for all the countries in the European internal electricity market. Data are also available that show how much electricity has been traded between which countries in each quarter hour of trading.
The energy mix of the electricity imported is based on the mix of the electricity generated by the country the electricity comes from at the time the electricity is traded.
