Countertrading
Countertrading volumes and costs since July 2022
Countertrading involves buying or selling energy on short-term markets in order to avoid network congestion. Transactions that run counter to the normal market trading activity are made in the two bidding zones affected by the congestion. Most of the countertrading measures shown here were taken to maintain the minimum trading capacity at the border with Denmark.
The net costs for countertrading are the difference between the costs of and the revenues from these transactions made to buy and sell electricity on the exchange.
