Disconnections

Disconnections according to information provided by distribution system operators and suppliers since 2011

In order to request a disconnection the supplier must be contractually entitled to disconnect the connection user. The supplier must credibly show the network operator that the contractual prerequisites for disconnection between supplier and connection user are met. The rights and obligations between the network operator and network user are defined in the network usage contract/supplier framework agreement, which is specified by the Bundesnetzagentur and regulates the possibility to discontinue supply at the request of a supplier.
Default suppliers have the right to disconnect supplies to customers, in particular upon failure to fulfil payment obligations in the amount of two monthly instalments or at least €100 and after applying a proportionality test. Appropriate notice must be given. Competitive suppliers put clauses regarding non-fulfilment of payment obligations in their contracts.
Due to the fact that the network operators physically disconnect the electricity supply, these figures should be regarded as the actual disconnections.
