SMARD data gaps

-

SMARD is being affected by large data gaps. What is causing them and what we are doing to correct them.

You may have already noticed that the time series on electricity generation and electricity consumption are currently not being displayed accurately on the start page or in the “Market data visuals” section.

A major technical error has unfortunately occurred in the automated reporting process for this data; every effort is being made to correct the error as quickly as possible. It is not yet possible to say when the data gaps will be closed and the missing data can be uploaded.

The data displayed under “Market data visuals” is obtained by SMARD from the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) under section 11d of the Energy Industry Act (EnWG) (Energiewirtschaftsgesetz, in German) and the Electricity Transparency Regulation (Regulation (EU) No 543/2013). The four German transmission system operators submit their calculated generation and consumption data to ENTSO-E.

A technical error occurred on 31 March when one of the German transmission system operators sent its data to ENTSO-E. This meant that only some of the data on actual generation and consumption was submitted.

As SMARD only publishes the figures reported and no estimated figures, the data is incomplete and there are gaps in the time series.

SMARD is working closely with the German transmission system operators and ENTSO-E to find a solution to this problem as soon as possible.
