New on SMARD: trends in electricity and gas prices for household customers
Data showing the trends in electricity and gas prices for household customers is now available on the SMARD website.
The index values give an accurate picture of the monthly trends in electricity and gas prices for household customers and are based on the Bundesnetzagentur's own calculations. The prices in each month are compared with the prices in the base month (January 2021), providing a clear and undistorted basis for comparison.
The latest index values show distinct trends. The electricity price index for September stands at 109.2 percentage points, slightly up on August's figure of 106.9 percentage points. This corresponds to a price level that is only 9.2% above pre-crisis levels. The inflation-adjusted level is even lower than the level in January 2021.
The gas price index for September stands at 174.7 percentage points, up on the index for August of 169 percentage points. The level of gas prices is still considerably higher than pre-crisis levels.
