New on SMARD: industrial electricity price indices

-

Price trends for industrial electricity are now available on SMARD. The index that has been developed makes it possible to display price trends transparently.

Industrial electricity price trends are now published on SMARD. A distinction is made between prices with and without possible price reductions for large companies and an index is used to show this development.

As with the household customer price indices the new industrial electricity price index compares current prices with the reference month of January 2021. This enables the transparent showing of long-term price trends and creates transparency in evaluating the current market situation.

The industrial electricity price index is based on a detailed calculation model that takes into account all the relevant cost components, including network tariffs and fees, surcharges, taxes, distribution costs and margins, and procurement costs. Because industrial customers receive various electricity price reductions under certain conditions, the index is shown both with and without maximum potential reductions.

The industrial electricity price index can be found in the “Energy data compact” section and will be updated each month.
